The characters are one sided and wooden. They mostly have one trait and that's all they are. Sets and effects are good for the limited budget. Weak plot threads with things just suddenly happening or deaths off screen was a disappointment. I do like the 1800s setting as it fits perfectly with the lore. The few additions to the lore were welcomed but still the film was still missing that edgy hardcore feeling of the first film, or even the second. The 2nd movie ended on a cliff hanger and I wanted more. I found out that they filmed the second and third movie back to back. What the flip again? This could've been a great trilogy if this movie followed the second. But instead it's a prequel?? Who came up with that terrible idea? I'm very disappointed and I love the two main characters of ginger and Bridgette but gosh dang this did them zero justice and made the this movie look as bad as the lost boys sequels. They didn't do anything with the story. This feels like a movie wasted on bad script writing and bad decision making. In the end don't watch this, watch the first 2 ginger snap movies.
